WHYY-FM 90.9 & Studio 2 Present: The Role of the Philadelphia suburbs in the 2024 election

Date: Monday 10/21
Time: 6-7:30p
Age Group: Adults 18+

Program Location: Shanis Auditorium

Description:
Everyone in the political universe is thinking about Pennsylvania. The commonwealth helped elect Republican Donald Trump as the president in 2016 and Democrat Joe Biden in 2020. In each of those years, turnout in the Philadelphia suburbs was crucial. Biden won the state in the last cycle by roughly 80,000 votes, driven in large part by voters in Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties that swung to the left. Will that coalition hold for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris or will Trump win back enough of those votes to turn the state red? That’s the question that could decide the 2024 election.

Join WHYY’s Studio 2 for a live event at the Upper Dublin Library where hosts Cherri Gregg and Avi Wolfman-Arent will lead a panel discussion about the role the Philly suburbs will play in electing our next president.

Guests:

  • Montgomery County Commissioner Jamila Winder, a democrat who is a leader in the Pa. Black Women for Kamala Harris coalition.

  • Delaware County Republican Party Chairman Frank Agovino, a former Springfield school board member.

  • Government editor and reporter Katie Meyer of WHYY partner Spotlight Pa.
