If you own a home that is 75 years or older, chances are good that it is listed on the Township’s Historic Resource Inventory. Owners of homes listed on the Inventory now have a number of opportunities as a result of the Historic Resource Overlay District.

In 2011 the Commissioners of Upper Dublin Township adopted zoning regulations under Article XXXIV – Historic Resource Overlay District. It is contained within Sections 255-253 through 258 of the Zoning Code. The overlay district applies to all properties listed as a Class I or Class II resource on the Township’s Historic Resource Inventory.

The ordinance allows owners to make additional uses of their properties which include various home occupations, a bed and breakfast, and accessory apartments. There are regulations and requirements pertaining to each use. The information contained in this section summarizes the provisions of the Historic Resource Overlay District Zoning Ordinance.
